The first installment in the Age of Empires Series, Age Of Empires (1997) PC Download is a real time strategy video game. The game is based on historical events of ancient civilization. Age of Empires was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. The game uses Genie Engine also developed by Ensemble.
The player takes on the role of a leader of an ancient civilization leader, who takes his people through the journey of four ages, (the Stone, Tool, Bronze, and Iron Ages). The game generally received positive reviews. An expansion pack for Age of empires, under the title of The rise of Rome, was released in 1998. Later both the expansion pack and the original was released as Age of Empire The Golden Edition.

Age Of Empires, Gameplay
In age of empires players are required to develop an ancient civilization. Player will be accompanied by a number of Hunter gatherers. Players have to transform this ancient civilization to an advance iron Age Empires. To assure victory, players must gather resources, in order to pay for the building materials, defense systems and sophisticated technologies. The game give the players full freedom to strategize their game as they wish. The better you plan and manage you clan the more success you get. Also player must take good care of their reserves, because once a resource is lost, players have to wait until the game progresses. For example cutting a tree, it won’t grow back.
The gameplay consist of twelve civilization. Each of these twelve civilization has it’s own features. Also technologies and units, to each civilization are unique. The reason for the uniqueness is, each civilization doesn’t end up with the same technologies. As the player advances through the four ages, with each advancement, players get new unit, weapons and technologies. Player will have to choose one of the 12 civilizations, each civilization would give them their respective appearances.
Technologies and Units
All the technologies in Age of Empires(2007) Pc Download are divided into different categories. Each technology upgrades and research is carried out in the respective buildings. For example weapon upgrade is carried out in the storage portion of the game etc. As for the technologies division their categories are, military upgrades, economic upgrades, religious upgrades, infrastructure upgrades. First of all Players have to complete the basic technologies research, then they can move to unlock and research other advance technologies. Some of the technologies are exclusive to specific civilizations.
The game also tests the player management skills, as the advancing and uncovering these technologies requires a heck of workforce and resources. It depends on the management skills of the player, how he/she manages the workforce in the quest for resources. For sure the difference in the technologies will be a fine line between losing and wining.
Different varieties of civilian and military units will also be under the control of the player. Most of these units are upgraded through research. The villager units are the backbone of every civilizations, as a work force they gather resources, food and materials for the buildings. Also at the time of need, they can proved to be handy fighters as well.
Now for the Military units, first of all they are divided into different sets of brigades. There are close combat worriers, long distance archers, on foot soldiers, on elephant worriers etc. Each of these brigades are for different combat scenarios. Also they are there only to fight and nothing else. In case of injuries and conversion of enemies troops, priests units comes in. They can heal the fighters and also if perform the duty of converting enemies alliances if they wish to do so.

Single Player Mode
Age of Empires offers four single player campaign, each of these campaigns requires the player to complete certain number of objectives. The single player mode consists of four campaigns in four different civilizations. They are Egyptian, Greek, Babylonian and Yamato civilization.
Random Map Mode
Besides the single player mode there is the random map mode. In this mode, random maps generates for each new games. Player will have to complete all the objectives given in each random map. Popular example of such random map is the resource-heavy “death match”.
Online Mode
For the Age of Empires to have a mode like the online mode is a very daring step, given the development time of the game. Consequently the mode some times have glitches and disconnection issues. Keeping this discussion aside, online mode allow 8 player to play the game simultaneously.
